Dharmic reasons to take part in BAM: No. 1

Dharmic reasons to take part in BAM: No. 1

From Buddhist Action Month 2015 on Fri, 8 May, 2015 - 00:51

Buddhist Action Month, in June each year, is an opportunity for Buddhists of all traditions to take any action they wish for the benefit of others, especially actions to

  • benefit the environment
  • help us look at what we do with our money and
  • care for others.

Lots of people feel passionately about these things. Why might Buddhists take action in this way? With regard to the first and second BAM themes Buddhism understands:

  • that actions have consequences (karma)
  • that ever-increasing material consumption (=greed/loba) does not bring ever-increasing happiness
  • and that ignorance (moha) is wilful.
