From Free Buddhist Audio on Fri, 27 Jul, 2018 - 12:26

This FBA Dharmabyte is another excerpt from a 1968 talk by Sangharakshita called ‘Why does the Dharma exist?’. Dharma is the experience of reality, and also the expression of that experience in the form of the Buddha’s teaching, especially the law of conditionality. It is the raft that carries you to Enlightenment, the further shore; it is whatever helps you to develop spiritually.

Excerpted from the talk entitled ‘The Meaning of the Dharma‘ given in 1968 as part...

Dharmabyte: Describing Nirvana

From Free Buddhist Audio on Fri, 27 Jul, 2018 - 12:08

Dharmabyte: Reflecting on Old Age and Death

From Free Buddhist Audio on Fri, 27 Jul, 2018 - 12:02

In this FBA Dharmabyte, ‘Reflecting on Old Age and Death’, Sangharakshita takes us through a personal ramble through the history of letters and letter writing.

As usual the range of Sangharakshita’s reflections in this is hugely impressive - taking in late mediaeval and 18th century letter culture, provocative takes on Christianity, the Romantic poets and even the economy! It’s an education and a genuine, poignant pleasure to hear him evoke a vanishing art, pass...

A doorstep into the unknown...

From Triratna Young Buddhists on Wed, 25 Jul, 2018 - 14:28

Sooo… I’ve just started a six-week fundraising appeal in London with these wonderful people (Mike, Declan, Chris, Ramesh Babar, Vajragupta, and Kusaladevi Spence)! We’re going to be raising money for an amazing charity called Karuna which helps to transform the lives of individuals and communities affected by the tyrannical caste system in India and Nepal.

We’ve all now arrived and are settling into community we’ll be living in together. For most of us, this is the first time we’ve done anything like this...

The Green Buddha and the Green Man

From Croydon Buddhist Centre on Wed, 25 Jul, 2018 - 00:00
In this talk Sahajatara gives a wonderfully lively account of her spiritual Journey from Paganism towards Buddhism. She explores the interconnectedness of all beings using poetry and the four factors of Enlightenment. We reflect on emptiness using a rainbow model and hear how Sahajatara connected with Green Tara. We then rejoice in Green Tara using the sevenfold Puja. This talk was given at the Croydon Buddhist Centre in 2018 as part of our regular Saturday Morning Sangha class.
