The Shrewsbury Buddhist Centre, UK, opened last September in a former church hall. Now the redevelopment has received a Gold Award in the town’s annual Mayor’s Awards.

Shrewsbury’s Buddhist Centre opens this month

The Triratna sangha in Shrewsbury, UK, has its own Centre – the first Buddhist place of worship in the town. The Centre, a former church hall, is holding an open day for the local community tomorrow, Saturday 5th September, 10am to 4 pm, attended by Shrewsbury’s mayor, mayoress and member of parliament.

The official Triratna launch is Saturday 26th September. (See below.)

Triratna Shrewsbury's wonderful new centre

By Munisha on Tue, 16 Dec, 2014 - 18:50Shrewsbury is a UK town close to the border with Wales, and to Taraloka, Triratna’s retreat centre for women. Its sangha is now large enough to buy a building, having started over a decade ago with classes run by Order members visiting from Birmingham Buddhist Centre and from Taraloka.
