Back in July, as part of our search for new – larger – premises for Tiratanaloka, our retreat centre for women training for ordination, the team visited a Carmelite monastery about an hour north east of London, and thought it looked very promising. I am delighted to announce that the former Don Lawson was publicly ordained on 10th December at the Wellington Buddhist Centre.

He becomes Surangamamati, ‘He who has a mind of heroic progress’ .  There is an accent above the ’s’, long ‘u’ and a dot over the ‘n’.

Registered spelling Shurangamamati. 

His private preceptor is Purna and his public preceptor is Ratnavyuha.

This month’s update from the College comes from Ratnavyuha – a Public Preceptor living in Auckland, who is not long back from leading an ordination course at Sudarshanaloka. He is one of the Deputy Chairs of the College.
