Dharmabytes: Meditating in the Midst of Activity

By Centre Team on Thu, 12 Oct, 2023 - 11:00

A fascinating talk about the Buddha’s relationship with both the urban environment and the forest. Ratnaprabha then relates this material to our own lives, which for most of us are likely to be mainly urban. Can we really practice the Dharma in the city? Are there even advantages to living and practising there? From the talk Buddha In the City, Buddha In the Forest given at Croydon Buddhist Centre, 2023.

FBA Podcast: The Alchemy of Meditation - Desire

By Centre Team on Sat, 7 Oct, 2023 - 11:00

How do we keep our meditation alive and fresh - especially over the long-term? Can we get lost and bogged down in our meditation and lose connection with creativity, play, and freshness? How do we go deeper? Responding to these questions, Vajragupta (m) looks at the Four Iddhipadas - the four ‘powers’ or ‘means of accomplishment’ taught by the Buddha. These are: desire, discernment, heart/mind, and resolve. They are both four ingredients of a creative meditation practice,...

Out now: ‘Starting on the Buddhist Path’

By Windhorse Publi... on Wed, 20 Sep, 2023 - 10:30

We’re delighted to announce the release of Starting on the Buddhist Path by Sagaraghosa Rosemary Tennison. Sagaraghosa describes it as the book she wished she’d had when she was beginning her exploration of Buddhism.

The Buddha said that you can’t develop wise perspective and freedom through ideas alone – you need to test the truth in your own experience. Drawing on many years of experience leading classes, courses and retreats, Sagaraghosa has created an engaging and practical guide to transforming your life through Buddhist...

The Visualisation of the Tantric Stupa

By Suvannavira on Thu, 3 Aug, 2023 - 14:50

A six week video course teaching Buddhist meditation, including the Visualisation of the Tantric Stupa, which gives us tools to reveal our true nature.

Each part of the stupa is further associated with one of the Five Buddha Mandala, whose mantras we’ll be introduced to, and a chakra.

- Supporting meditation practices for the Stupa Visualisation;...

Want to get better at the Mindfulness of Breathing?

By Maitriyogini on Tue, 11 Jul, 2023 - 09:50

The Mindfulness of Breathing is the practice that gives us a structure to take our awareness into the breath, the body, the feelings, the mind and the nature of phenomena.

Over the past six weeks Dhammarati has been leading a series on the Anapanasati Sutta - the Buddha’s instructions on this practice. This Q&A session was offered to the 200 people on the course; watch for a sneak-peak at what next week’s Order retreat on the Satipatthana will be like. There...

Emptiness and the Nature of Mind: Meditation Intensive Online Led by Tejananda with Upekshanandi

By Centre Team on Sat, 27 May, 2023 - 12:35

A Home Retreat: 24 – 28 November, 2023

Reserve your space on Emptiness and the Nature of Mind

Our deepest and truest nature, right now, is the Dharma. We can imagine – and ultimately experience – this as the total openness of the ‘Dharma body’, which is pure emptiness: empty of any divided-ness whatsoever.

Our world is literally made up from this total openness, together with the illuminating clarity of awareness and unlimited, spontaneous ‘compassionate energy’. Traditionally, the union of these is referred to as...
