 Sunday 7th June 

Just as millions of lamps can be lit from one lamp
Without the one lamp being diminished
By all the lamps taking their flame from it,
In the same way, from the one lamp of aspiration 
The lamps of aspiration of all the Buddhas are lit.
Yet the one lamp of aspiration is not exhausted 
And shines undiminished.

Shraddhapushpa’s obituary appeared in The Guardian online (Other Lives section - Susy Powlesland) on Tuesday 26th May. It may also be published in a print edition at some future point. Shraddhapushpa’s life story has been recorded and may be published in full at some point. The story of her Dharma life will form part of the Triratna Women’s Oral History archive.

Shraddhapushpa (Susy Powlesland) was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2003. Shraddhapushpa means - “Flower of Faith”. She was a “radical educationalist” with a long engagement working with children and supporting black and minority ethnic communities. In 2007 she was appointed MBE (a British honour that is awarded to a person by the Queen for a particular achievement) for services to Black, Asian, and minority ethnic people in east London.
