Ordination at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre

I am delighted to announce the public ordination of David White from Birmingham at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre on 4th May 2023.

David becomes Danabandhu, a Sanskrit name meaning “He who is a friend of giving”.

Prajnabandhu is the Private Preceptor, and Mahamati is the Public Preceptor.

Dear Order Members,

In 2019 the Sikkha Project asked as many Order Members as possible (outside of India) to fill in the first Order Practice questionnaire.  The aim of Sikkha is to strengthen our spiritual practice and training at all levels, and this questionnaire was our first step in clarifying how we practise in the Order, seeing what is helpful and what might support a flourishing practice and Order.

Dear Friends,

I am sorry  to announce the resignation of Amritanadi.

Amritanadi now lives in Cornwall. She wrote to me to say that  she has been considering her place in the Order for some time and over the last year it has become clear to her that she wishes to resign. She has spoken to Jvalamalini, her private preceptor about this. Another factor in Amritanadi’s life has been the devastating illness, and subsequent death of  her sister. Amritanadi is now caring for her sister’s daughter.

We are sorry to inform you of the death of Jinasinha, who died on 22nd August 2022 due to a sudden cardiac arrest. He was 61 years old and was a resident of the village of Morna in the district of Gautam Buddha Nagar in UP State.

We are sorry to inform you of the death of Gambhirananda from Mumbai, who passed away on 8th July 2021. He had been suffering from memory loss over the last 8 -10 years. He was 75 years old. 

He was Ordained on 25th December 1987. Kamalashila was his Private with Public Preceptor, and he was ordained at Sadhamma Pradip Retreat Centre, Bhaja.

Dear Order Members,

We are sorry to announce the death of Anantasiddhi from Aurangabad, who passed away on 28th Aug 2022 due to a heart attack. He was also suffering from other complicating factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney failure. He was 72 years old. 

He was ordained on 22nd September 2002 at Sadhamma Pradip Retreat Centre, Bhaja, with Chandrashil as his public preceptor and Sudharshana his private preceptor.
