    As part of the inauguration of Kalyanaloka, and in the spirit of a Triratna dedication ceremony, there were three elements to the ritual: a bonfire (symbolising a wall of fire - pictured); the placing of vajra in the ground (symbolising a wall of vajras); and the planting of a tree over the vajra (symbolising a wall of lotuses).

Kalyanaloka: Buddhist and Tea Retreat Centre

A new retreat centre practicing in the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community was inaugurated in June during a summer solstice ritual.  Kalyanaloka, based in Brighton, held a special ritual, led by Subhadassi, chairperson of the nearby Brighton Buddhist Centre, which included a tea ceremony, a practice which is central to this retreat centre. 
 
Kalyanaloka’s location is unusual for a retreat centre: it is situated on the outskirts of Brighton, about a thirty minute walk...

Brighton Buddhist Centre celebrates 40th anniversary

“Our sangha and guests had a very moving couple of days together. The place was packed, and it was a very strong experience to have practitioners from all generations coming together to share their stories and practise together.
