The International Order Office has a vacancy for an Order member to join our small team, whose aim is to support and connect the Order, and to help it thrive. We organise international and UK and Ireland events for Order members, hold and develop the Order database, provide services such as kesas, membership cards, Order registration, and Shabda, and we communicate important news across the Order worldwide.

Guhyavajra and his new bike

From Abhayaratna Trust on Fri, 23 May, 2025 - 12:09

Our recent appeal for Guhyavajra, raised the £2,800 needed for him to buy an ebike, which he needed to stay mobile as caretaker at Sudarshanaloka.

He writes, ‘Ebikes are expensive items …. so your generosity is greatly appreciated and valued. Also thanks to the team of magicians at Abayaratna trust who can make things happen and positively affect Order Members lives. What an Order we have - quite remarkable.’

The Ethics Adviser for the College and Order is a post that will replace the Ethics Order Convenor, held by Subhadassi since 2020.

Removal From The Order List

From Order Messenger on Thu, 22 May, 2025 - 17:11

Dear Order members,

I regret to inform you that in view of very serious breaches of the second and fourth precepts over several years, which have only recently come to light, I can no longer recognise Dhammachari Upeksharatna as a member of the Order. So after consultation with other College members in India, and the Chair and Deputy Chairs of the College, I am recognising that due to his own actions he has placed himself outside of the Order. Therefore he has...

Coming Home

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Wed, 21 May, 2025 - 00:00
The Parable of The Return Journey tells the story of a son who becomes separated from his father and descends into a life of crime and poverty. Meanwhile his father becomes incredibly wealthy, so much so that when they happen upon each other many years later, the son is unable to recognise his father and is terrified by his riches and king-like status. Bodhinaga will explore what happens next, with the son's incredible journey of transformation, asking 'what does this tell us about our own Dharma journey?' In this series we are exploring the profound teachings of the White Lotus Sutra, presented through a combination of poetry, drama, parables and what can seem like cosmic science fiction, and the way these have the potential to free us to take our practice of the Dharma to a new level.
