Dharmabyte: The Conversion of Shariputra

From Free Buddhist Audio on Wed, 22 Jul, 2015 - 13:49

Our FBA Dharmabyte today is called “The Conversion of Shariputra” by Sangharakshita, from the talk “The Meaning of the Dharma” given in 1968.

Dharma is the experience of reality, and also the expression of that experience in the form of the Buddha’s teaching, especially the law of conditionality. It is the raft that carries you to Enlightenment, the further shore; it is whatever helps you to develop spiritually.

This talk is part of the series ...

From Order Connection on Tue, 21 Jul, 2015 - 18:31

Bhante's Birthday Wish

From Order Connection on Tue, 21 Jul, 2015 - 18:31

All of Sangharakshita’s words preserved for everyone, forever.

It is Bhante’s birthday wish that his legacy of written Dharma be secure and continue to reach people all over the world.

As our International Order Convenors travel the world they are constantly reminded of the positive effect Bhante’s teaching has. Not only within the Triratna community, but also for Buddhists practicing within other traditions. They would like to encourage Order members to give as generously as possible to ensure that Bhante’s legacy of written Dharma,...

Meditations From The Anuruddha Sutta - Week 3

From Online Meditators on Mon, 20 Jul, 2015 - 20:46

This Dhamma is for one whose persistence is aroused, not for one who is lazy.’ Thus was it said. With reference to what was it said? There is the case where a person keeps their persistence aroused for abandoning unskillful mental qualities and taking on skillful mental qualities. They are steadfast, solid in their effort, not shirking their duties with regard to skillful mental qualities. ‘This Dhamma is for one whose persistence is aroused, not for one who is lazy.’

The London Buddhist - No. 4, Unfolding Lives (Winter 2015)

The London Buddhist - No. 4, Unfolding Lives (Winter 2015)

From Community Highlights on Mon, 20 Jul, 2015 - 17:46

The lotus is the image that the Buddha uses to describe the growth of human beings: the unfolding of life from unfavourable conditions. In this issue of the LBC’s excellent magazine and program some moving and culturally rich examples of this are brought to light - from Shraddhapuspa’s generous life after escape from the Nazis at the start of WWII, to Jayaka’s experience in prison as a young man via an examination of Fellini’s 8 And A...

Sangharakshita@90 Appeal - Halfway There!

From Triratna News on Mon, 20 Jul, 2015 - 16:06

All of Sangharakshita’s words preserved for everyone, forever.

I am fully immersed at the moment in the £100k campaign to publish Sangharakshita’s Collected Works, as his 90th birthday present. I don’t think that I have ever felt so emotionally engaged to an appeal in my 16 year fundraising ‘career’. It is very present in most of my morning meditations! I personally guaranteed to Bhante that I would raise this money, and I have also gradually...
