Triratna Translations Project celebrates 30th language

From Triratna News on Wed, 29 Jul, 2015 - 16:16

The Triratna Translations Project aims to translate the main texts and ceremonies used in the Triratna Buddhist Community into as many of the world’s languages as possible. With the translation of the Threefold Puja into Burmese it’s reached its 30th language. (This short puja was written by Bhante long ago, for the Finnish sangha, who found the Sevenfold Puja too elaborate.

It’s an ambitious project, but Lokabandhu, the project’s online co-ordinator says “We’re a worldwide community and between us...

Amalavajra reports from the fundraiser's desk

From Sangharakshita@90 on Wed, 29 Jul, 2015 - 13:47

Written a few thousand pounds back (when we were 50% there), this is a great Triratna News report on the fundraising for Bhante’s birthday present. Amalavajra, Triratna’s fundraiser in Europe, explains his enthusiasm.

https://thebuddhistcentre.com/news/sangharakshita90-appeal-halfway-there

PS Today we’re 58% there! We still need another £41,000 and we’ve got just 28 days to raise it. That’s £1464 per day.

But that shouldn’t be hard. Yesterday we raised more than that!

Make your donation here.

The more love you give the more you have

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Tue, 28 Jul, 2015 - 03:09

This week’s share is brought to you by Grant

(Copy given to us in Dharma Study Group on Sunday morning)

“The Buddha said, thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened.

This simple yet powerful truth speaks to the infinite unconditional love of the Universe, expressing itself through the fire it has lit in our hearts.

Honouring this love compels us to grow, to feed the fire and to share our awareness and our gifts with others.

It...

Dharmabyte: Ksitigarbha’s Jewel

From Free Buddhist Audio on Mon, 27 Jul, 2015 - 11:00

Our FBA Dharmabyte today is from Vajratara entitled: “Ksitigarbha’s Jewel.” If you really want to have everything, the teaching of Ksitigarbha is not to just give you what you want, but rather to help you change your mind. That state of mind is the bodhicitta, the heart-mind of enlightenment. From the talk, “Ksitigarbha” given by Vajratara at Sangha Night, Sheffield Buddhist Centre (2nd May 2006), as part of a series on the Refuge...

This week’s FBA Podcast is “Breaking the Bonds of Selfhood Through Serving the Dhamma (with translation in Hindi)” by Parami. Here is a strong, beautiful talk by Parami from the final day of the Triratna Buddhist Order’s International Convention 2013 in India, bringing us back to the task in hand as members of the Order and as Buddhists: engaging with breaking the fetters and weakening the hold that self-clinging exerts upon our minds and our ways of...
