Upcoming Ordinations at Akashavana

Dear Order Members,

The 16 women currently attending the 3-month ordination course will be having their private ordinations at various times throughout the day and night between the evening of Sunday, 29th May and the afternoon of Wednesday, 1st June. 

The public ordination will take place on Saturday, 4th June, starting at 11:00 a.m. local Spanish time.

Avikara Passes Away in New Zealand

Last year Avikara in Wellington, New Zealand was diagnosed with systemic mastocyosis, a cancer of the blood.
 
He had been in the hospice for the last few weeks and died this morning at 10:35 a.m.
 
Varadevi was the last Sangha member to see him, yesterday afternoon. He was asleep when she visited and she said he seemed at peace.
 
He was ordained in 1998 by Sona at Sudarshanaloka retreat centre near...

In 2016, parliament will vote whether to replace and modernise the UK’s nuclear weapons system called Trident. It’s made up of four submarines – one of which is on patrol at all times - carrying up to 40 nuclear warheads on board. Each of these warheads is eight times more powerful than the atomic bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima.
