Welcome to DharmaJiva

In recent years millions of poor people in India have become Buddhists.  The vast majority of these people come from what used to be known as the ‘untouchable’ community, and they see the Dharma as a meaningful spiritual practice that allows them to live free from the oppression of the caste system.  Unfortunately, this important movement is largely unknown outside of India.

DharmaJiva is working to increase awareness of the Buddhist revival and support Buddhist social activists and Dharma teachers in India.  Buddhists from all traditions are welcome to participate in our delegations to India to meet the ‘new’ Indian Buddhists and visit Bodh Gaya and other pilgrimage sites.
