BAM at the Wellington Buddhist Centre

We launched BAM on May 30th with a talk on the precepts and a discussion on how we might extend the practice of them bearing in mind “beings living far away and beings yet to be born”.

After a practice of the Metta Bhavana our individual intentions for June were offered and are displayed at the Centre.

As a Sangha, we are moving towards Zero – Waste trying to put into practice the 5 Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Rot, Recycle. With no landfill option, we have removed our large rubbish bin and replaced it with something appropriately small, recycling and compost will be encouraged and looked after by Upekshamani. We have introduced teapots and want to phase out tea bags or at least the individually wrapped version. David is organising a Sangha beach clean-up and our retreat in June will be deliciously vegan.

For the next 7 weekly open nights, we will be focusing on the Bodhisattva Ideal with an introduction by Achalamuni on June 6th, followed by 6 evenings, each devoted to one of the Paramitas.
