#PilgrimageUnlimited Begins!

By akasajoti on Mon, 12 Jun, 2023 - 15:28

Ratnadharini’s epic journey to fundraise for Tiratanaloka Unlimited has begun!

After being waved off by the Adhisthana Community on Friday; this morning Ratnadharini set off from Tooting Broadway, showered in petals by Dhammagita, Vajratara, Dhammarati and Akasajoti.

Today she will walk 16.71 miles, along the Thames Path out of London to Shepperton, in 27°C heat and possible storms!

We’ll be following her all the way (in spirit!), sharing her progress and daily video diaries.

Sadhu!

Chair's Letter – May – A Pilgrimage from Tooting to Adhisthana

By ratnadharini on Fri, 2 Jun, 2023 - 08:37

Dear Order members and friends,

The decision to walk from Tooting to Adhisthana seemed spontaneous but obvious. I still don’t really know what it will mean, but alongside the practical preparation, themes are beginning to emerge – and no doubt there will be more. The most recent of which is that there will soon...

Dharmabytes: No Breaking Through without Awareness

By Centre Team on Wed, 31 May, 2023 - 12:10

At times in the spiritual life we may need considerable energy to overcome obstacles, such as negative emotions, psychological conditionings, rational thinking, and even the sense of ‘time’ itself. How, when, and where can we break through?

From the talk Breaking Through into Buddhahood by Sangharakshita,1969.

Wat is de Dharma?

By Viryabodhi on Tue, 30 May, 2023 - 15:54

A new edition of What is the Dharma? by Sangharakshita is available in Dutch.

It can be bought either as hardback or paperback on lulu.com: link to both.
Sadhu to all involved!
Best wishes,  Viryabodhi

Here is what Sobhanandi wrote on Facebook:

The translation from 10 years ago has been checked and improved where necessary. Sangharakshita says: What is the meaning of life? How can we experience true happiness? These questions are still relevant even though they have been asked many times.

Listen to this episode +much more!

The Dharma is a universal teaching and an array of practices for liberation. In history, it is embodied by teachers who respond to the particular forms of suffering and bondage that they are born into, human and social.

In its spread between India and what could broadly be called the West, the Triratna Buddhist movement and order is rather unique in contemporary convert Buddhism.

In this episode, Dhammamegha is in conversation with Vajratara about...

A Gift to Honour Bhante Sangharakshita

By Maitripa on Fri, 19 May, 2023 - 18:35

Last year at the Order Convention, I was so struck by the amazing Amitabha thangka in the shrineroom in Wymondham. Having just come back from my ordination retreat in Guhyaloka, I was overjoyed to see such a beautiful image of Amitabha in exactly the form that I visualise in sadhana.

In the thangka, Amitabha is holding up the lotus. The origins of that image are fascinating and mysterious: the image...
