Dear Order Members and Friends,

I have just returned home from two Ordination Retreats. The first one was the long Ordination Retreat in Akashavana, Spain, where 19 fine women were ordained. The second one was much shorter in our Retreat Centre here in Vimaladhatu, Germany. It was for Utpaladaya who cannot physically manage the terrain at Akashavana and works as a teacher with limited holiday time. Both retreats were a source of joy and inspiration.

Dear Order Members,

I am delighted to announce that the Public Ordination of ex-Tracy Buckow of the Essen Centre, Germany, took place on Wednesday 24th July 2024 within a short Ordination Retreat in Vimaladhatu and she was given the name:

Utpaladaya (long final ‘a’) meaning ”she whose compassion is like a blue lotus”

This month’s letter is written by Nagapriya. Nagapriya first met Triratna in Leeds, England in 1988 whilst he was studying for a degree in philosophy. He describes that he quickly realised that he had found his spiritual home and, after moving to Manchester, he was ordained in 1992. In 2013 he moved to Mexico where he co-founded the Centro Budista de Cuernavaca, and has worked for the men’s ordination training process in Latin America for the last decade.
