Sangha Day rejoicings
I rejoice with delight in the Karaniya Metta Kula!

Formerly the Buddhism and Ecology group, the Metta Kula is a shelter of friendships, in which sangha members can come together to discuss difficult topics of contemporary politics, socio-economic injustices, and concern for the environment and other beings. For modern Buddhists, tremendous opportunities for growth, altruism and sangha building can be found in responding creatively to the environmental crisis.

As a shelter in which individuals are supported to face their fears, rage and despair associated with these issues, the Karaniya Metta Kula is carefully constructed to its core of metta. So, in addition to worldly activities like the People’s Climate March, co-ordinating retreats like The Work That Reconnects, or working towards the Sustainable Buddhist Centre certificate, the Metta Kula is rooted in reverence for the 3 jewels.

As eco-dharma warriors, we are working to transform ourselves and the world using knowledge, courage, urgency, compassion, faith and friendship.
