MAITREYA: BUDDHA OF POTENTIAL

From Community Highlights on Thu, 10 Apr, 2025 - 11:11

Metteyya (Maitreya’s Pali name) is the Buddha who will arise in the next world age after the Sangha established by Shakyamuni, ‘our’ Buddha has died out and his teachings have been lost. So Maitreya is known as the Buddha of the Future. ‘Maitreya’ means ‘the Friendly One’ or...

He Who Was So Kind

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Thu, 3 Apr, 2025 - 00:00

This week we will be continuing to explore Awareness of Reality, but not in a way you might expect. What if seeing the truth were less about ‘understanding’ reality, and more about coming into relation with and opening up to what we might experience as a living spiritual force?

In this talk we become more aware of the Buddha, who is himself, in this sense, synonymous with reality. Prajnahridaya will be speaking quite personally about his encounters with the Buddha whilst on pilgrimage in India, as well as practices that can allow the loving influence of the Buddha to enter more into our lives and transform us.

Awareness is crucial to Insight, but a Dharma perspective is even more important. Without ‘Right View’ informing what we’re aware of, we run the risk of reinforcing ‘wrong views’. Wrong views are naturally present in the unenlightened state, but we can train ourselves to become aware of those ideas and distortions through learning...
