In today’s FBA Dharmabyte“A Rung in the Ladder,” Satyalila shares quite personally about her writing as spiritual practice. From the talk, “Daring to Look In the Mirror” given on the 2014 at the European Women’s Convention held at Adhisthana, the theme of the convention was “The Bodhisattva’s Reply: Triratna Paths to Insight.”

sitting Quietly

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Thu, 23 Apr, 2015 - 02:38

“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes, and the grass grows, by itself.”

I’m really digging the book on ‘Living Dreaming and Dying’ loaned to me by Steve. Here’s a bit from today’s read:

‘If we simply remained with the perception, the mind would be relaxed and at peace. But the mind will not permit that. It wants to interfere and possess the perception. So we have ‘me...

Who runs BAM?

From Buddhist Action Month 2015 on Mon, 20 Apr, 2015 - 16:38

You do!

But, more helpfully…

BAM is an initiative of the Network of Buddhist Organisations UK (NBO), who have asked a small team of young Buddhists to provide central information online via the NBO website and a central BAM Facebook page.

But the great thing about BAM is that it’s largely self-organising, and any Buddhist tradition can get involved, using whatever approach fits the emphases and ethos of that particular tradition.

Be a Shambhala warrior

“Firmly establish your intention to live your life for the healing of the world. Be conscious of it, honour it, nurture it every day…”

These are the opening words of the inspiring text attached below, written by Triratna Order member Akuppa in 2005.

“…Do not set your heart on particular results. Enjoy positive action for its own sake and rest confident that it will bear fruit.”

Who's new at Adhisthana?

From Triratna News on Mon, 20 Apr, 2015 - 11:22

Saddhaloka, new Chair of Triratna’s College of Public Preceptors, moved to live at Adhisthana on 9th April, having taken over the post from Dhammarati at the latest College meeting, in March.

Saddhaloka writes: “After 20 years I packed my possessions and life at Padmaloka into a van and drove right across England to Adhisthana, and to a warm welcome from the community and the balmy spring weather. I have just about settled in to my new room, but no time yet to really settle...

Kamalashila's Quarterly No.3 - On Gonzo Psychogeography And New Beginnings

From Buddhist Centre Features on Sat, 18 Apr, 2015 - 18:37

Another excellent conversation with Kamalashila in our occasional series from West London, where we celebrate the opening of their incredibly impressive new Buddhist Centre. But first we touch on all things liminal in our ongoing exchanges about landscape - particularly, in this case, the “gonzo psychogeography” of London and its subterranean rivers.

We also hear about new beginnings in the shape of a Welsh contemplative community project, and Buddhafield as it re-emerges from some years...
