Panel Process Review and Summary

From Order Connection on Sun, 1 Jun, 2025 - 16:29

Dear Order members,

In December 2018, some will recall that Suvajra was suspended from the Order after having been judged “on the balance of probability”, by a Triratna Panel Process, to have committed a serious breach of the ethical precepts. Eighteen months later in June 2020 Suvajra was reinstated. In announcing this to the Order Ratnadharini, then Chair of the College, concluded her letter as follows:

I know there are Order members – many of whom have known Suvajra well and for a long...

Letter from the College of Public Preceptors- June

From College of Public Preceptors on Sun, 1 Jun, 2025 - 00:00

This month’s letter comes from Vajratara, one of the Deputy Chair’s of the College: Vajratara came across Triratna in 1995 in South London and knew she found what she had been searching for - a vision of human potential, a path of transformation and a community to practice with. After studying Philosophy and Religious Studies at Leeds University and running the University Buddhist Society, she moved to Sheffield, lived in community and worked in Windhorse:evolution. She joined the Order in Sheffield,...

The Water of Life (Parable of Herbs)

From Sheffield Buddhist Centre on Thu, 29 May, 2025 - 00:00
The Parable of the Herbs offers a vivid metaphor for how the Dharma nourishes all beings according to their unique capacities—like rain falling equally on grasses, shrubs, and trees. Sanghajiva will explore the profound meaning behind the parable: the Buddha’s wisdom flows impartially to all, yet each individual receives and grows according to their own nature and readiness. In this series we are exploring the profound teachings of the White Lotus Sutra, presented through a combination of poetry, drama, parables and what can seem like cosmic science fiction, and the way these have the potential to free us to take our practice of the Dharma to a new level.
