In what is possibly the most interesting material of the series he explores what it would mean to engage with the Buddha from our cultural context; while taking great inspiration from the Buddhist cultures of the East - asking; ‘what does the Buddha look like for me?’

Being with the Buddha

From Taraloka Retreat Centre on Thu, 24 May, 2012 - 00:00
Sangharakshita has recently re-emphasised Shakyamuni Buddha as the central focus of our devotion and practice, as it is through him we know of Enlightenment. This talk, given on the first day of a retreat, explores how to cultivate an attitude of Being with the Buddha as our teacher and guide. The Dhammapada is then introduced as a key Buddhist text and the first two verses are explored highlighting the centrality of mind in Buddhism.
