Last month, in a survey of Buddhist buildings in England, Triratna's Manchester Centre was described by the researcher as "one of the most compelling buildings I have visited on this project".

English Heritage (EH) is a UK government-funded body traditionally concerned with the maintenance of cathedrals and castles. Last year, however, they started to research the conservation needs of buildings maintained by faiths more recently arrived in the UK. Many of them, including Buddhists, have converted historic buildings, which makes them partners in the conservation of the nation's built heritage.

In 2014, in partnership with the University of Leeds, EH conducted a survey of Buddhist buildings, which they have recorded on a blog.

EH is continuing to consult with minority faiths. If you run a historic Buddhist building with signficant conservation needs, or have experience of refurbishing or maintaining such a building - in England - you may be interested in their next workshop, at which they'll be interested to have the experience of Buddhists: 18^th March 2015, 1.30pm-4pm at English Heritage's office in central London.
