Vishvapani, probably best-known for his regular appearances on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Thought for the Day’, writes with news of his new website and blog, ‘Wise Attention’, where he’s brought together his on-line writings, talks, radio broadcasts, and mindfulness teaching work.
He says: “I want to let you know about the Wise Attention web page and blog I have started at www.wiseattention.org.
I'll be using the site to write more about the themes in my recently-published biography of the Buddha (Gautama Buddha: the Life and Teachings of the Awakened One); I'll also be writing about ethics and mindfulness and exploring other themes around the Buddhist teachings in the modern world. I'll regularly be posting new material and reposting articles I have written over the years. And there's material on my mindfulness training work.
To give you an idea of the content, recent posts include a reflection on the future of Buddhism in the West, my recent 'Thought for the Day' on the UK riots and a talk entitled ''Seeking the Buddha in History', which I gave on the recent Triratna Buddhist Order Convention.
You can subscribe to the blog via the website, and keep up with it on Facebook and Twitter.
Warm Wishes, Vishvapani”
And Kamalashila, a founder-member of Triratna’s Vajraloka Meditation Centre and well-known teacher and author, introduces his new ‘Dharma Door’ website by saying:
“A warm welcome to my Dharma site and personal blog! These pages express the integral Buddhism I've learned and practised over many years. It integrates meditation and daily life - precept and practice - theory and direct experience - shamatha and vipashyana - cultivation and letting go - without over emphasising any one of those paired aspects over the other… and changing the whole experience of living. If you plunge fully into Dharma practice, you enter the 'Dharma Door of Nonduality' referred to in the Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra, where all the extraordinary oppositions and contradictions of our lives are resolved through insight”.
His site contains clear instructions for the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditations, an introduction to Triratna’s overall system of spiritual practice and approach to Buddhism, numerous articles exploring the Dharma and meditation in more depth, personal material including his biography and calendar - and an invitation to join him live on-line for experimental text-and video-based Dharma discussion and study.
Dharma Door is at www.dharmadoor.org.
