An exciting new opportunity has arisen at the Brighton Buddhist Centre for a fully supported Centre Manager.
This is a new post at a time of great change and possibility at the Centre. In the process of appointing a new Chair, we are reviewing many aspects of the centre’s functioning.
The new Centre manager would be a key player in implementing changes and being a creative force as the Centre evolves. This would include facilitating and enabling people at all levels of involvement to get involved in running the Centre, as well as providing a link between all the different groups of people who work and practise at the Centre.
Your qualities
We are looking for an Order Member or a GFR mitra with energy, inspiration, and good communication and people skills.
Ideally, you will also have previous experience of managing a team and you will need to be able to liaise with different groups of people. You will have a strong dharma practice and be an excellent communicator. This will include being able to communicate the vision of the Centre and of Sangharakshita’s teachings to people at different levels of experience. You will also have the necessary communication skills to encourage harmonious relations with all parties and liaise with the Trustees.
In practical terms, you will be enthusiastic about and able to develop and sustain relevant office and legal systems, and engage staff and volunteers in the running of the Centre. You will also manage our small Centre team.
What you can expect
You can expect support from a committed Chair, Trustee group and Centre Team. This is a great opportunity to create strong teams and sangha and spread the Dharma in a very receptive City. We have had a Buddhist Centre in Brighton for 40 years and are a very large and friendly sangha. We have two Men’s Communities and accommodation with a Dharmacharini may be available. To apply, please send a CV and a covering letter Mokshini (chairperson) on mokhshini41@gmail.com by 15 May 2015.
Start date: July/Aug 2015.
