We are Maitrimandal Community, situated in a row of well-established London Buddhist Centre communities in Approach Road, a stone's throw from the LBC in Bethnal Green, East London. We are looking for a woman (and we are gender diverse friendly) to come and live with us from around mid-July to the end of October. 

We are Alana, Andrea, Esther, Kate, Sally and Suvarnajyoti. Our 7th community member is of the furry kind - Ella the cat. We're not sure if Ella is a Buddhist, or just Buddhist-curious, she never says, but we don't mind either way! This summer, Kate and Andrea will be ordained and Kate will be away for an extended period of time, hence this opportunity to occupy her room and taste community life. 

The rhythm of community life includes food shopping communally and taking turns in cooking for each other. We aspire to offer an atmosphere of friendliness and mutual supportiveness for our spiritual practice - wherever we individually may be within that journey.

The community has a peaceful shrine room and a higgledy-piggledy garden. The room available is at the top and back with wonderful light and an open sky-scape view over the city chimney pots. Please let us know if you would like information about expenses for the room.

We have a natter over communal meals most evenings, and come together more intentionally to connect and practice on Sunday nights - you will be warmly included. On these evenings we may do some formal practice together in the shrine room, sort out practicalities or perhaps, for example, go for walk in nearby Victoria Park.
