About Virya Group

We are an innovative forward-thinking technology business which specialises in Open Source technologies.  Our business is founded as a Buddhist Right Livelihood and operates to an ethos statement which explains how we work in basic terms.  You don’t have to be Buddhist to work for us, but every employee needs to be at least sympathetic to all five of our core principles as a prerequisite for employment in the company.

We are a full-service digital agency.  We provide software development, marketing, search engine optimisation hosting and training to organisations worldwide. We’re based in Ipswich, Suffolk close to several thriving sanghas.

We’re good at what we do, and we have pretty high standards for developers who work for us.  We use the latest technologies and methodologies to deliver a high-quality, leading edge service to our clients.  If this sounds like the environment in which you would thrive, read on!

About you

We are looking for a skilled and experienced front end developer with excellent communication skills for an initial contract term of three months with the potential for further work in line with business requirements.  This role requires you to be confident, organised and motivated.  You will join our existing development team and provide front-end support for projects which have tight turnaround times.  Depending on performance there may be the potential for extending the contract, and/or a permanent role.

We specialise in the Joomla CMS - not just building basic websites but using the wealth of features available including f0f, APIs and more.

We custom design templates from the ground up with the support of our Creative Director and design team, who provide their designs in appropriate formats for implementation as a fully responsive template. You will also be responsible for selecting and configuring extensions to deliver the functionality required by the design brief, and ensuring that all work is optimised for fast, effective performance worldwide.

Your skill set will include a thorough understanding of:

  • The most up to date HTML and CSS technologies
  • The use and implementation of SVGs
  • The Joomla CMS, extensions and configuration
  • Bootstrap, LESS and Javascript
  • PHP development
  • Conversion rate optimisation
  • Search engine optimisation
  • User experience/User interface design for multinational websites

You must be able to hit the ground running with minimal input and quickly deliver on the tasks you are assigned.  We use an agile approach to all aspects of our business, so a familiarity with the Atlassian suite of products would be advantageous.

You must have high standards of accuracy and be willing to document your processes.  You will take part in our code review processes and help us to ensure we only ship top quality, robust code.

We are willing to consider remote working under specific conditions which will be discussed at interview.

If you think you fit the bill, please apply now!

We expect the role to be an immediate start for the successful candidate, for a period of three months.  We will consider remote working under specific conditions which will be discussed at interview.
