Community Champion in Birmingham

Now here’s an opportunity! A bit of an adventure, even!

We have three communities around the Birmingham Buddhist Centre.  We’re looking for an Order member to move in to one of our men's communities – rent-free for two years – and invest some time and energy helping the communities to thrive and expand. 

South Birmingham is a great place to live, and we have a well-established Buddhist Centre with an extensive and supportive sangha. So there should be plenty of encouragement and support available, as well as space for initiative and growth. 

Specifically we are seeking an enthusiast for community living, a friendly and positive presence, with the skills and energy to engage within and beyond their community - helping with projects, getting involved around the Buddhist Centre and raising the profile of community living. There's plenty of scope to work out with the communities what would help and how best to use the time.  

This is not so much a job as a role. The formal agreement with the Buddhist Centre would include two years’ rent-free living, with the expectation of a day a week to invest in community development (alongside everyday community living).
