Here at Bristol Buddhist Centre we are looking for an Order Member to be our new Centre manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of our busy Centre working with the Centre Team (currently Bhadra (Chair), Satyalila and Naravira (mitra convenors) plus Khemajoti who is stepping down). You will also be responsible for managing the ‘Healing Rooms’ a business on the first floor of the building which provides an important income stream for the Centre through renting out therapy rooms.
You will be part of the Centre team and will be expected to meet weekly, and occasionally all-day, meetings to plan and review the general business of the Centre. You will need to be well organised and competent in using Word, Excel and Wordpress. Good interpersonal skills are vital as you will be an important interface between the Centre and those contributing to it and using it.
We hope you will be keen to engage as fully as possible with the life of the Centre and respond positively to the ethos of working as part of a team to create conditions to share the Dharma and deepen Sangha.
You will be employed 32 hours a week @ £8.40 per hour with an annual retreat allowance of up to £1350 pa pro rata. Depending on personal circumstances, you would also be entitled to join the Centre's contributory pension scheme.

Detailed description of responsibilities:
Centre manager: Duties/areas of responsibility:
- Work closely with the Chair to manage the calendar of events running in the Centre
- Deal with enquiries via email and telephone
- Prepare and send weekly mailouts using Mailchimp
- Oversee website and social media communications
- Create leaflets and posters to promote our activities
- Work with our small admin team and volunteers maintaining the Centre
- Oversee G-suite to ensure our contacts remain GDPR compliant
- Stock bookshop to reflect our Centre programme and the wider Triratna community
- Oversee the Centre library
- Take minutes at team and Council meetings and distribute them
- Maintain an overview of the housekeeping of the Centre including cleaning

Healing Rooms manager
- Meet prospective therapists wishing to work at the Healing Rooms
- Set up and manage contracts between therapists and the Healing Rooms
- Answer queries regarding changes of hours, website details and maintenance issues from existing therapists
- Update Healing rooms website when required
- Maintain records of therapists’ qualifications, contact details and current insurance
- Maintain records to ensure Bristol Buddhist Centre receives all payments due from therapists
- Supervise cleaning and maintenance of the Healing Rooms
