It's Day 9 of our 12 Days of FBA fundraiser! We've been sharing some great resources from our archive over the past days, which speak to the preservation of the long history of Buddhism and of the Triratna Community. Today we'd like to turn our gaze forward into the future and highlight those places in which the intersection of Buddhist thought and Western culture - and in particular Triratna's role in bringing the Dharma to the west - are creating new history.
Our main offering today is a pairing of two full-length talks from Vaddhaka entitled "Beyond Capitalism- Radical Dharma For the Modern World". In these two talks Vaddhaka explores the effects of capitalism on community and on work, and asks us to consider what should be our individual and collective Buddhist responses to the decline of community and the degradation of work in our modern society.
And we also offer a talk from Ratnaprabha called "A Second Renaissance - Buddhism Hits the West" which gives a brief history of the encounter of Buddhism with the West, from Pyrrho in 300BCE to the present, followed by thoughts on how Buddhism could contribute to Western thought and culture, and what it will take to integrate it fully.
Free Buddhist Audio and The Buddhist Centre Online are more than just archives for Triratna - they are new ways of envisioning how Buddhism will meet the 21st century, and how we can guide the emergence of a middle way online where the best of the Dharma and the best of the digital world combine. With that in mind, please consider making a donation today to support the work we do to bring the Dharma into new spaces using new technologies. Thank you!
