Want to get better at the Mindfulness of Breathing?

By Caroline I P on Tue, 11 Jul, 2023 - 09:50

The Mindfulness of Breathing is the practice that gives us a structure to take our awareness into the breath, the body, the feelings, the mind and the nature of phenomena.

Over the past six weeks Dhammarati has been leading a series on the Anapanasati Sutta - the Buddha’s instructions on this practice. This Q&A session was offered to the 200 people on the course; watch for a sneak-peak at what next week’s Order retreat on the Satipatthana will be like. There...

Day Ten #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Tewkesbury to Adhisthana

By akasajoti on Thu, 22 Jun, 2023 - 23:18

Day 10: Tewkesbury to Adhisthana, 13.5 miles. Mud and Rose Petals… 🌹🥳🎉

Ratnadharini writes:

…and amazingly we’ve exceeded the target of raising £15,000 for Tiratanaloka Unlimited!!! I left Tewkesbury along the River Severn, then across country towards the distant Malvern Hills. Greeted by very friendly sheep with dreadlocks, like the ones that graze at Adhisthana. Up and over the Malverns, and then the GPS insisted I take a track that got more and more rutted and flooded; a convoy of Landrover Discovery 4x4s...

Day Nine #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Winchcombe to Tewkesbury

By akasajoti on Thu, 22 Jun, 2023 - 00:14

Day 9: Winchcombe, to Tewkesbury, 11 miles. Wild cows, wild footpaths, wild effort… 🐄 🌱 🔥

Ratnadharini writes:

I’m overjoyed to see this pilgrimage has inspired nearly 250 to collectively give over £13,000 to Tiratanaloka Unlimited! It’s a project close to my heart. I did so well yesterday, maybe because I used walking poles. Today was harder: detours to avoid frisky cows; negotiating overgrown - or non-existent footpaths; right hip starting to complain… and crossing the M5 was a shock. But Tewkesbury is...

One day + only £1800 to go... Ratnadharini shares her gratitude and inspiration...

By akasajoti on Thu, 22 Jun, 2023 - 00:10

Ratnadharini is on the final day(!) of her 150 mile pilgrimage between the places of Sangharakshita’s birth and death; and, we have reached 88% of her fundraising target.

Here she shares her delight and gratitude for all the generosity she has received thus far, and tells us of her inspiration for the Tiratanaloka Unlimited project.

She would like to raise another £1800, which we could do if 25 people give £70 each.

Can you give and contribute to Tiratanaloka...

Day Eight #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Gt Barrington to Winchcombe

By akasajoti on Tue, 20 Jun, 2023 - 22:49

Day 8: Great Barrington to Winchcombe, 19.5 miles. Torrential rain, wet socks, and taking the next step… 🌧️🦶🏼💙

Ratnadharini writes:

Today was always going to be a challenge, but the early start meant I started out in a torrential downpour and was soon soaked through - including boots full of water. I squelched determinedly for a couple of hours, until a church porch gave me an opportunity to wring out my socks. The universe seemed to think 19.5 miles wasn’t enough of a challenge...

Day Seven #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Weald to Gt Barrington

By akasajoti on Tue, 20 Jun, 2023 - 03:29

Day 7: Weald to Great Barrington, 12 miles. Wheat-fields, storm-clouds, and Ratnadharini’s mythic motivation… ⛅️🌾🌝

Ratnadharini writes:

A relatively easy day across fields and through a few small villages, with houses, churches, drystone walls and stiles of honey-coloured Cotswold stone. I’m actually staying in Burford, taking a bus there and back again tomorrow morning. Planning to set out at 5.30, as tomorrow is 19.5 miles and the forecast is for heavy rain and thunder… will let you know how it goes!
